Here’s a guide to the quality and style standards for items in the Thrifty Luxe Kit.

What items do you accept?

We accept quality clothing, shoes and accessories that are in excellent condition and freshly laundered. 

Please take a look at our check-list below before you send your items. If you’re unsure if your pieces match our criteria, please contact hello@thethriftstore.co.nz

What items do you not accept?

We do not accept:

Items that are well-worn, stained, have holes, piling, or need mending. If we receive items in these conditions and you've opted for their return, you’ll be notified to arrange for their return at your own expense. If you opted for unaccepted items to be recycled or donated, you will not receive further notification once they are recycled or donated.

Pre-loved sleepwear, underwear, bras, dressing gowns, or swimsuits (unless new with tags and hygiene strip), wedding dresses

Counterfeit items (e.g., fake designer goods)

Certain brands, including: Glassons*, Jay Jays, Just Jeans, Boohoo, Shein, Anko, Cotton On*, Primark, H&M*, The Warehouse, EZIBUY, Capture etc. Note: Items from these brands may be accepted if new with labels.

Men's and children's clothing

What happens if my item(s) do not sell?

We list items for 6 weeks at full price (unless a sale is on) and then 3 weeks at a 30% discount. After that, if they haven’t sold, they are moved to our $5 clearance rack. Note: Thrifty Luxe Kit items are excluded from the $5 clearance rack.

If you have opted to have your items returned at your own expense, we will contact you to process the return. Postage costs for the return must be paid in advance.

If you opted to have unsold items donated, you will not receive further notification once they are recycled or donated.

Do you accept drop-offs?

No unfortunately we do not accept drop-offs

How much will I receive?

You will receive 50% of the total selling price

When do I get paid?

You can request a payout here 5 days after your item(s) have sold

Do I need to set-up a consignment account?

Once you have purchased your thrifty bag, you will be prompted to create a sellers account with the thrift store. This will be your own personal hub where you can keep track of your items, when they sell, and see your pay-outs.

How many items can I sell with you?

At least 5 items are required to sell with us. You can pack as many items as you can fit into your thrifty bags 

The thrifty bag is 80X85CM and will fit roughly 25-35 items depending on size of garments

How do you determine the prices?

Prices factor in the original retail price, the overall condition, quality and season. Prices are determined by the thrift store.

When will I see my items online?

You will be notified via email once your item is live and when an item sells. Items are listed in the order of which they arrive at the store.

Lost/stolen parcels

Unfortunately we can not take responsibility for stolen or lost parcels, please ensure you store them in a safe place for collection.

Why do you charge for thrifty bags?

The cost charge covers our return courier fees, courier bags, printing and processing time.

Can I get a refund on the thrifty bag if my items do not sell?

No, the cost is non-refundable

How long do you list items for?

We list items at full price for 6 weeks. If the item hasn’t sold by then, we discount it by 30% for the next 3 weeks. After that, unsold items move to the $5 clearance rack.

CONSIGNMENT SERVICES

Requesting a Thrifty Clear-Out Kit
You can request a Thrifty Clear-Out Kit on our website. If available, we’ll send it to you.

Accepted Goods Only
Only include items that meet our criteria (Accepted Goods) in the Thrifty Clear-Out Kit. Please refer to our "Accepted & Unaccepted Items" tab on our website for a detailed list of what we do and do not accept.

Returning the Thrifty Clear-Out Kit
Return the kit to us using the prepaid courier label provided. We will inspect the items to determine which ones are Accepted Goods.

Authorisation to Sell
By sending us your items, you authorise us to sell your Accepted Goods on consignment on your behalf.

Pricing
We will set the prices for the items at our discretion.

Sale of Accepted Goods
We will make reasonable efforts to sell your Accepted Goods on our website.

Sale Period
Accepted Goods will be listed on the website for 6 weeks at full price (unless a sale is on). After that, they’ll be discounted by 30% for 3 weeks. If they remain unsold, they’ll be moved to our $5 clearance rack. Note: Thrifty Luxe Kit items are excluded from the $5 clearance rack. At the end of this listing period, we’ll notify you of the amount you’ve earned from items sold, based on our payout structure (Funds).

Sales and Discounting
We may put items on sale from time to time and will determine any sale prices.

Payout Requests
You can request a payout on our website, using your nominated bank account. We will transfer the funds to your account within 7 working days of receiving the payout request.

Items Not Accepted
Please refer to our "Accepted & Unaccepted Items" tab on our website for a detailed list of what we do and do not accept. Any items we don’t accept can either be donated or returned to you at your own shipping cost, based on your preference. If you choose not to have unaccepted items returned, we reserve the right to manage them at our discretion.

RISK AND OWNERSHIP

Responsibility for Consigned Goods
We take responsibility for your consigned items once we receive them, until:

  • For sold items, they are dispatched to the buyer.
  • For unsold items that you choose to have returned, they are dispatched back to you.

Risk Transfer
Risk in the goods transfers to you once they’re collected or dispatched to the courier for delivery. You are responsible for insuring them from that point.

Ownership
Ownership of the goods transfers to you only once we’ve received payment in full.

Ownership of Unsold Items
If you choose not to have Unsold Items returned or if we don’t hear from you within three months, ownership transfers to us.

CONFIDENTIALITY & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Confidentiality
All intellectual property and information from both parties that is confidential will be kept as such.

Intellectual Property Rights
Our intellectual property rights, including those related to the Thrifty Clear-Out Kit, remain with us.

INDEMNITY & LIABILITY

Indemnity
You indemnify us against any costs or losses resulting from your non-compliance with these terms or third-party claims.

Limited Liability
We are not liable for indirect losses, profit loss, or business loss. Our maximum liability is limited to the applicable portion of the price paid.

APPLICABLE LAW AND TERMINATION

These terms are governed by New Zealand law. If you breach the terms, we may terminate our services. We will aim to resolve disputes amicably before taking legal action.
